Thrills with Tiki Tubing on the Amite River

View All Outdoors

Leisurely tubing trips on the nearby Amite River provide a laid-back way to cool off during warm Baton Rouge summers. Tiki Tubing of Denham Springs, about 20 minutes to the east of Baton Rouge, provides four-hour inner-tube float trips that include transportation to a river launch point. The trips are akin to picnics on the water — floaters can bring coolers packed with refreshments to enjoy as they cruise the shallow river, or stop for a picnic on one of the sandy beaches along the way. The company rents kayaks for those who prefer to paddle instead of float down the quiet, slow-moving waters of the Amite.

Tiki Tubing also offers zipline tours. Its one-mile course includes nine zipline segments, a rope bridge and an 85-foot tower. The route includes soaring views of century-old oaks and a bird’s-eye-view of a cypress swamp. Tiki Ziplining is available to individuals and groups — guides can also act as a tandem partner for those with disabilities or visual impairments.
