View All Kids Activities

Baton Rouge is known for its college football, but the city also has a vibrant culture when it comes to the other kind of futbol. Nearly 4,000 children and 2,500 adults play on the city’s 535 recreational and competitive soccer teams. People of all ages can enjoy the Baton Rouge Soccer Club, which invites children as young as 3-years-old to join the fun. The club also runs holiday and summer camps and clinics, a middle-school winter league, a skills academy, and programs for disabled and disadvantaged children. Baton Rouge Soccer Club competitive teams, coached by highly trained, licensed coaches, take part in tournaments across Louisiana and the nation.

The focal point of Baton Rouge’s soccer scene is the Burbank Soccer Complex near Bluebonnet Boulevard. Developed and maintained through a partnership between Baton Rouge Recreation (BREC) and Baton Rouge Soccer Club, the complex includes 22 soccer fields. The state-of-the-art facility was selected by U.S. Youth Soccer to host the 2014 U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championships, which are expected to draw 12,000 spectators and 3,600 players. The club also operates seven fields at BREC’s Independence Park.
