Situated near the base of the Tchefuncte River, Fairview-Riverside State Park is located in Madisonville, about 45 minutes northeast of Downtown Baton Rouge. The park offers residents of the Capital Region access to a variety of outdoor activities; visitors can walk or jog along the boardwalk or launch a paddle or motor boat.

Anglers enjoy freshwater fishing for brim, perch and bass along the Tchefuncte River. Recreational sports like waterskiing and wakeboarding are also common activities at the park.

Throughout the year, rangers at the park host various workshops and programs which include learning about nocturnal animals and crafting freshwater fishing lures. Some programs include guided hikes with topics that cover birdwatching and flora and fauna identification.
