Louisiana State University (LSU) fans enjoy NCAA Division I sports in the competitive Southeastern Conference. With nationally ranked teams in football, basketball and baseball, LSU Tiger fans from the whole state fill the stands to cheer on their favorite team. Additional LSU varsity sports that have seen national national championships include golf and track and field.
LSU football draws more than 150,000 to the university’s campus on any given home game day. Tiger Stadium – known to LSU fans as Death Valley – has more than 100,000 seats and luxurious box suites for fans to enjoy. But, tailgating takes place throughout the school’s expansive campus and involves everything from food to family-friendly games.
Recent renovations have improved Alex Box Stadium for LSU baseball and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, which hosts LSU basketball, volleyball and the nationally-ranked Women’s gymnastics team.
Southern University attracts large crowds for its athletic events, including football, basketball and baseball games. The Southern Jaguars won the 2013-14 SWAC Championship for both football and women’s tennis. Moreover, they represented the Western Division Champion for women’s soccer.
