Private and parochial schools in Louisiana’s Capital Region provide well-rounded, comprehensive pre-kindergarten-through-12th-grade education on campuses with small classes and low student-to-teacher ratios. Parents can choose from private schools in Baton Rouge of diverse size, educational philosophy and academic focus. There are non-denominational Christian schools, single gender Roman Catholic high schools, Baptist, Episcopal and Lutheran schools, and progressive, independent schools without religious affiliation.

Daily campus life is equally varied. In 2013-14, students at private schools in Baton Rouge participated in international student-exchange programs with schools in Spain and France, learned Chinese and Latin, engineered structures to prevent eggs from breaking after a fall, won statewide choral competitions, wrote poetry and shared their work at poetry “slams,” cleaned up the environment, and won regional and state titles in sports from football to gymnastics to soccer.
