As the first hospital in Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge General has a long history of medical milestones, such as creating the first burn center in South Louisiana and founding the first comprehensive cancer treatment center in Baton Rouge.

A full-service hospital with 588 licensed beds, Baton Rouge General offers two campuses –Bluebonnet and Mid-City – where more than 3,500 employees and a medical staff of 800 physicians provide patients with high-quality medical care across more than 80 specialties and subspecialties.

Baton Rouge General has been an accredited teaching hospital since 1991, where its School of Nursing, School of Radiologic Technology and residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine and sports medicine provide a learning environment for future healthcare professionals. Baton Rouge General’s Mid City Campus in particular is a medical education hub, which serves as a satellite campus for the Tulane University School of Medicine and also offers a number of community services and programs. The hospital’s Bluebonnet Campus includes a state-of-the-art heart and vascular tower, physician office tower, and an innovative surgical space equipped with minimally-invasive robotics and a hybrid operating suite.
