With more than two dozen courses in the region, lush green vegetation and dramatic water features, the Baton Rouge area provides abundant options for golfers who enjoy scenic, yet challenging courses.

Louisiana State University’s golf course features a putting green, driving range and an 18-hole course. It also includes a pro shop and pitch and putt course, complete with varying levels of difficulty for beginners, juniors and experienced golfers. The course has options for entire course rentals, as well as birthday parties for young golfers.

Only a few minutes from the LSU Golf Course, the 25-acre City-Brooks Community Park course is one of only 20 courses in the U.S. to be listed on the national register of historical places. The nine-hole course is notable for its varied terrain, which includes mature trees, lake views, a small bayou and 25-foot range in elevation. City Park Golf Course’s pro shop is stocked with the latest equipment.

The University Club is a 7,700-yard par 72 golf course that was designed by PGA Champion David Toms with an open membership policy. The course is the largest practice facility in the state and has four holes designed for on-course lessons. University Club’s renovated clubhouse features a bar and grill, a well-stocked golf shop and locker rooms for both men and women. The club also has a five-lane swimming pool with a covered cabana and children’s area, as well as four tennis courts.

Just five minutes outside of downtown St. Francisville and 30 minutes from Baton Rouge, the Bluffs Golf Resort boasts a course designed for championships. With each hole designed for Grey tees, the resort has played host to numerous state championships and the Southeastern Conference Golf Championships.

Amateur golf tournaments are popular fundraisers for local charities including Drive, Chip and Putt Championships and Junior Division PGA Tournaments, with several annual Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Scrambles that usually include a pro-clinic as well.
