A World of Dolls at the Enchanted Mansion Doll Museum

View All Kids Activities

Visitors feel momentarily doll-like as they step inside Baton Rouge’s Enchanted Mansion Doll Museum. That’s no accident — the soaring ceilings of the colonnaded museum building were designed to give visitors a toy’s view of the world. It’s a fitting introduction to a museum that showcases the historic, cultural and artistic traditions of dolls. The museum houses thousands of dolls from around the world. Its exhibits range from rare and antique Victorian-era dolls to contemporary figures of Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton on their royal wedding day. There are dolls of U.S. presidents and even a diminutive model of the White House. Exhibits highlight topics from the role of male dolls to ethnic doll traditions.

The result is a unique museum that delights children, doll lovers and collectors of every age. The not-for-profit museum also hosts weekly afternoon teas — with lemonade for the little ones — as well as dance performances, workshops, doll-themed breakfasts, camps and Mother’s Day celebrations.
