The Parks of Dutchtown is an Ascension Parish subdivision established in 2004, located five minutes from Interstate 10 in the town of Geismar. Homes are built on large lots with amenities such as enclosed garages, custom cabinets, open gourmet kitchens, walk-in closets, bonus rooms and large spaces for entertaining. The Parks of Dutchtown has a neighborhood pool and clubhouse operated by the homeowners’ association. The average sale price for houses in 2013 was $250,000 with an average price of $100 per square foot. The average size home sold was 2,500 square feet.

    The private streets of The Parks of Dutchtown create a pleasant environment for walking, jogging and riding bikes. Families can stroll to the neighborhood pool — open all summer — and there are three stocked lakes in the subdivision for fishing. Ascension Parish’s newest recreational facility, Jambalaya Park — about five miles away in downtown Gonzales — features an Olympic-size pool, splash fountains, an amphitheater, boardwalk and shaded picnic areas.

    The Parks of Dutchtown is minutes from supermarkets, restaurants and pharmacies and less than three miles from a major national outdoors/sporting goods store. Also nearby is a national outlet mall chain, which hosts more than 100 casual and upscale shops that sell adult and children’s clothing, shoes and accessories, housewares and china, home décor, luggage, toys, books and other items. The Mall of Louisiana and numerous surrounding retailers are less than 20 minutes away.
