Upscale Bocage Offers Privacy in Middle of Town

The Jefferson Place and Bocage area offers luxury living in the center of Baton Rouge. Established in the 1960s and '70s, the neighborhoods feature homes with varying architectural styles built on large lots. Typical amenities include open gourmet kitchens, custom cabinetry, top-of-the-line appliances, walk-in closets, European tile bathrooms, detailed landscaping and outdoor living spaces. An organized neighborhood association hosts a family Halloween Party and other annual social events. The average sales price over six months in early 2014 was roughly $715,000 at $185 per square foot. The average size home sold was roughly 3,700 square feet.

    The Bocage Racquet Club is a private club adjacent to the neighborhood that has 20 clay tennis courts and two hard courts, a fitness center, pro shop, restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The Old Hammond Highway Park is located five minutes away and includes a playground, tennis courts, walking paths and a skate park. The Perkins Road Community Park is reachable in less than 10 minutes and is home to an outdoor climbing wall, velodrome, BMX track, skate park, playground and picnic area. An adjacent sportsplex offers numerous indoor basketball and volleyball courts.

    Jefferson Place/Bocage is situated among some of Baton Rouge’s most vibrant retail areas, including Towne Center at Cedar Lodge and surrounding developments. The upscale Towne Center features a large health foods chain, high-end and casual women’s clothing stores, salons and spas, home décor specialty stores and numerous restaurants. A large selection of retailers and eateries also line Jefferson Highway, the main thoroughfare outside the neighborhood.
